The White House plans a strategy of rapid response to Andrew McCabe, Newsmax learned on Monday, as the former FBI deputy director promotes his new memoir of a stormy tenure under President Trump.
On Monday, White House Director of Strategic Communications Mercedes Schlapp emerged as the key “counterattack-er” to McCabe.
“Andrew McCabe is a liar,” Schlapp told reporters on the White House driveway Monday morning. She then proceeded to respond point-by-point to accusations McCabe has made against the president in his new book “The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Trump and Terror.”
Newsmax asked Schlapp if the president believed McCabe’s claim that there was discussion among FBI officials about securing Trump’s removal from office under the 25th Amendment’s grounds of being unfit for the job.
“McCabe’s a liar,” she repeated, adding that the former Number Two to FBI Director James Comey already was “under an investigation by the [FBI] inspector general for lying.”
As McCabe continues his book-signing appearances and radio-TV interviews, Schlapp is expected to give more rebuttals to charges he may make against the administration.
