The mainstream media is in a lather over President Trump. Many members of the liberal-oriented press corps simply cannot adjust to the reality of the populist revolt that propelled the anti-establishment Trump into the White House. They also cannot fathom the idea of a president who is actually trying to keep his campaign promises to the American people on such issues as Obamacare, trade, energy independence, tax reform, immigration, and national security. All that many so-called journalists obsess on are the controversies besetting the young Trump administration — some resulting from unforced errors to be sure, but many others manufactured by the press itself, or resulting from illegal leaks coming out of the hostile federal bureaucracy threatened by President Trump’s shake up plans.
CNN and its fellow anti-Trump media outlets still pine for what might have been if Hillary Clinton had prevailed in the election instead of Donald Trump. They fantasize about a Clinton White House nirvana, where they would have fed their questions to Hillary in advance and fawned all over her scripted answers. The reality of a Clinton White House, however, would have been far grimmer.
President Hillary Clinton would have double downed on Obamacare in an effort to stop its current death spiral. The result would have been even higher premiums and deductibles, more insurance market monopolies or duopolies, and less choices of health care providers available to patients.
President Hillary Clinton would have increased the annual admission of Syrian refugees for resettlement in communities throughout our country by at least 500 percent in her first year in office alone. Vetting would have taken a back seat in her zeal to prove her bona fides as a good global citizen.
President Hillary Clinton would have worked with her husband Bill to enrich the Clinton Foundation and her re-election campaign coffers by selling access to the White House and to key officials in her administration. Following in the footsteps of Richard Nixon, who once said in an interview with David Frost that “when the president does it, that means it is not illegal,” Hillary’s private server for all her e-mails would have been back in full operation to cover up her tracks.
President Hillary Clinton would have followed through on her promise to “put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.” And she would have squandered billions of taxpayer dollars on United Nations-administered global wealth redistribution disguised as a green climate fund. U.S. energy independence would have been sacrificed at the altar of radical environmentalism.
President Hillary Clinton would have continued Barack Obama’s disastrous coddling of Iran’s rulers to preserve a flawed nuclear deal. She also would have continued Obama’s disastrous policies in the Middle East that have led to destabilization, ISIS, and a strained relationship with Israel.
President Hillary Clinton would have opened the Oval Office door wider to members and supporters of the jihadist Muslim Brotherhood. At her side would have been Huma Abedin, Hillary’s confidante, whose family members and herself allegedly have had ties to extremist Islamic organizations.
President Hillary Clinton would have replaced Justice Antonin Scalia, who believed in interpreting the Constitution according to its text and original intent, with a progressive justice willing to bend the Constitution to fit his or her own political and social philosophy.
The list of disasters that a Hillary Clinton administration would have created goes on and on. Fortunately, despite much of the mainstream elite media in Hillary’s corner, the better alternative currently resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, thanks to the commonsense of many ordinary Americans.
