Michelle Obama Replace Biden on '24 Ticket? Don't Count on It

Only a third of U.S. adults approve of his job performance. Also, Biden's apparent judgment and seemingly perpetually tired state understandably warrant universal alarm. This scenario, coupled with purported demons lurking in his son's "laptop from hell" and the haunting congressional impeachment inquiries into family foreign influence peddling, causes little wonder over the fact that a vast majority of Dems want to dump Joe Biden as their 2024 candidate for the Oval Office.

Their problem — and it is massive — is lack of a credible replacement candidate who can beat Donald Trump whose comparative support is surging in virtually all polls.

Gov. Gavin Newsom? Good luck with that given the wrecking ball economic and criminal carnage he has presided over in California.

Democratic congressman from Minnesota Dean Phillips who is officially challenging Biden? Not a chance since few even know who he is, and the DNC is working with the Biden White House to keep it that way.

So the latest desperate Hail Mary hope, although we heard it before in 2020 (along with Oprah): What about that secret upset switcheroo Dems allegedly might launch as their nominee at their national convention?

I'm referring of course to Michelle Obama.

Nope again, and I'll offer just a few reasons why.

Obamas Are Already Living High

You gotta wonder why either Barack or Michelle would want to trade their multiple laps of luxury celebrity lifestyles for a return to public scrutiny and accountability for domestic and foreign policy disasters that ensued during their previous White House residency and recommenced under Biden's.

Then consider their transition from a $400K presidential gig to attainment of a sprawling $11.7 million oceanfront Martha's Vineyard estate, an $8.1 million Washington, D.C.,  showplace, and another home they reportedly kept in Chicago's historic Hyde Park neighborhood they purchased in 2005 when he became a U.S. senator.

Few Should Wish for Another Obama Term

Remember the raft of failed "green energy" fiascos famously chronicled by Solyndra? And the "Iran Nuclear Deal" that was going to encourage those mullahs to play nice?

Whereas former President Obama candidly told CBC interviewer Matt Galloway that he missed his time in office and idealized the possibility of directing policy decisions from his basement in sweatpants, he apparently accomplished much of that dream through surrogates who followed him into the Biden administration.

Think recently departing Biden Domestic Policy Director Susan Rice who former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell described as the real "shadow president."

Rice, who previously served as the Obama-Biden national security adviser, attended January 2017 Oval Office discussions that addressed how to continue the FBI's Crossfire Hurricane investigation of Trump and his associates following his election.

Biden National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, who had initiated talks with Iranian officials leading to the nuclear deal, succeeded former Obama Deputy National Secretary Adviser, now Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.

Michelle's Heavy Chicago Black Baggage

Michelle Obama's name pops up as someone who might counter Trump's growing popularity among Black voters.

But not so fast here if voter attention is directed back to a time when soon after his election as Illinois state senator, Barack had unsuccessfully requested a $1 million earmark for the Chicago Medical Center hospital where Michelle had been selected for a position with a part-time $317,000 salary by board member and close friend Valerie Jarrett.

Michelle Obama's primary role was to create what has been described as a low-income "patient-dumping" program supported by Jarrett called the South Side Health Collaborative featuring a gang of "counselors" that advised unprofitable low-income patients they would be better off at other hospitals and clinics whereby the medical center was generously willing to provide "a ride on a shuttle bus to other centers."

Then There's That "Kamala Problem"

After all, wasn't VP Kamala Harris expressly picked as the promised Biden administration Black woman representative? Does anyone really believe that she will peacefully relinquish that matrix box-checking president-in-waiting race-gender entitlement with characteristic cackling laughter?

Any leapfrog attempt to replace Kamala with Michelle would pretty much obviate any Democrat pretense that Joe Biden's removal from the ticket has anything to do with age or health excuses.

Instead, it would highlight public recognition of Biden-Harris administration disasters — the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle, COVID social and business shutdowns, raging inflation, and a southern border invasion — even if that means turning pages of their failed policy book backward to the Obama era that crafted them.

Blowback From the Bernie Bunch

Besides, do you imagine that the liberal far left that currently dominates the Democratic Party and its empty suit leader wants to replace him with someone they can't entirely manipulate?

Some may recall Sen. Bernie Sanders' response to a report in The Atlantic in which he downplayed his relationship with Barack and was said to have considered challenging him in the 2012 Democratic primary.

The Vermont senator explained, "We have worked with President Obama. I'm not going to say he and I are best friends, we talk every now and then."

A long-standing contentious relationship between Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Barack has been even less subtle when she suggested that big banks had co-opted his administration and parlayed a push in 2010 for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to be part of the Dodd-Frank financial reform bill.

Warren met with Obama adviser David Axelrod who said she wanted an appointment to run the Treasury Department, whereupon the president reportedly replied: "Tell her to keep her mouth shut. She may well be the choice, but we can't surface that now."

So nope again, don't expect any Michelle '24 "secret weapon" that won't blow up in Democrats' faces.
