The number of anti-Semitic incidents across the county reached 1,879 in 2018 – the third highest year on record, according to a report by the Anti-Defamation League.
Still, the overall number of incidents is a decline from the 1,986 reported cases in 2017, but 99% higher than in 2015, according to the ADL,
The ADL noted 59 people were victims of anti-Semitic assaults last year. The number includes the 11 people murdered and two injured at a Pittsburgh synagogue in October
“We’ve worked hard to push back against anti-Semitism, and succeeded in improving hate crime laws, and yet we continue to experience an alarmingly high number of anti-Semitic acts,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO and National Director. “We unfortunately saw this trend continue into 2019 with the tragic shooting at the Chabad synagogue in Poway, (California.)
A gunman walked into the Chabad of Poway on Saturday and killed one woman and wounded three other people inside with an assault-style rife, police said.
