Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, says he will force a vote on impeaching President Donald Trump as early as Wednesday, the Washington Examiner is reporting.
However, Republicans in the House will easily table the symbolic vote, according to the website.
And Green said three Democrats are asking to meet with him in an apparent effort to dissuade him from bringing up the vote. Many Democrats believe it is premature to discuss impeachment.
"I will tell them I refuse to sit on the sidelines while the world is considering one of the great issues of our time," Green said. "I will tell them that tomorrow we will bring articles of impeachment to the floor of the Congress of United States of America for a vote."
The Hill noted Green plans to force the vote on a "privileged" resolution.
House rules stipulate that privileged resolutions must receive action within two legislative days, according to the website.
