Sharpton Blows 'R-E-S-P-I-C-T' Lyric in Attempt to Rip Trump

Rev. Al Sharpton called on President Donald Trump to "show some R-E-S-P-I-C-T," blowing the spelling and lyrics of the late Aretha Franklin's famous hit "Respect."

Sharpton, who served as a White House adviser for former President Barack Obama's administration, was attempting to cleverly call out President Trump for his calling of Omarosa Manigault Newman a "dog" in a tweet last week. 

"Talking about female canines, you know what they say about payback, it's a real – well, I am sure you know the word I am thinking of," Sharpton said in his monologue on MSNBC's "PoliticsNation."

"So, in the words of my late friend Aretha Franklin, show some R-E-S-P-I-C-T.

"And the next time you get a black woman and a beagle confused, remember this: I gotcha."

Manigault Newman released the book "Unhinged" this week, detailing her time in a tumultuous White House and threatening to "blow the whistle" on White House and Trump campaign corruption.

President Donald Trump, his administration, and family considered her secret recordings and turning on her former employer "a betrayal."
