Alec Baldwin insisted he is "so done" playing President Donald Trump on "Saturday Night Live" and said the show should find someone else to impersonate him.
Speaking with USA Today about his career, Baldwin was asked about whether he will continue with his Trump character on the weekly show.
"When Anthony Atamanuik [played Trump on Comedy Central's 'The President Show'], all these people were attacking me, saying, 'Oh, your impression sucks and you suck. Please go away,'" Baldwin said. "It also was something I thought to myself: 'I really don't have a lot invested in my Trump impersonation, so please find someone and convince Lorne [Michaels] to replace me.'
"I'm completely down with that. Winning the Emmy for that show aside, it was not some career goal of mine.
"I feel like I'm done with that now. I'm so done with that."
When asked for clarification that he doesn't plan to return to the show in the fall, Baldwin — a vocal Trump critic — said he would like to be done with the impersonation.
"I can't imagine I would do it again. I just can't. They should find somebody who wants to do it," he said.
Baldwin added that having a young son also makes him want to be home on the weekends and not with the "SNL" crew doing live television, a demanding job.
Baldwin has played Trump on "SNL" since the tail end of the 2016 presidential campaign. In a recent sketch, Baldwin opened the show playing Trump in the Oval Office and singing Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now."
