The Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial in Boise was vandalized earlier this week with swastika stickers, the Idaho Statesman reports.
The Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, the organization that maintains the memorial, announced the incident on Facebook Wednesday, showing pictures of the stickers, which show a swastika with the words, ''we are everywhere.''
''It’s a sad statement in our community to have such a public statement of hate,'' Dan Prinzing, the executive director of the center, told the Statesman.
A spokesperson for Boise police said that officers learned of the vandalism on Tuesday morning, and that it occurred sometime Monday night or in the early hours of Tuesday, just days before Hanukkah begins on Thursday.
''It does cause us concern,'' said Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee. ''We take instances of hate and hate messaging, and particularly things such as neo-Nazi conduct, with serious concern and alarm.''
The memorial was similarly vandalized in 2017.
