Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be denied the opportunity to address the Democratic National Convention.

Politico is reporting that some moderate Democrats say it damages the party if she got a prime-time slot at the same time President Donald Trump is trying to link Joe Biden to her and the progressive left.

“I don’t think so,” former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a friend of Biden, said when asked whether Ocasio-Cortez would get a slot. “I think Bernie (Sanders) and (Elizabeth) Warren will speak, and they’ll represent the progressive wing of the party very ably."

Rendell maintained that an Ocasio-Cortez speaking appearance wouldn’t be representative of the 2018 freshman class if she got on the schedule, but moderate lawmakers who helped win back the House didn’t.

However, Corbin Trent, a former top adviser to Ocasio-Cortez said: “It would be stupid not to give her” a slot.

Additional information about who will be speaking at the convention will be released next week,  the New York Post reported.

“What is currently confirmed are the Obamas will be involved, the VP nominee Wednesday, Biden on Thursday and a tribute to John Lewis,” a source told the newspaper.
