Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Parkland, Florida high school students for standing up against gun violence, The Hill is reporting.

His comments came in a commencement address at his alma mater, Duke University on Sunday.

He had made a point to single out the shooting survivors at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 people were gunned down. In his speech, Cook encouraged Duke students to be fearless.

"Fearless like the students of Parkland, Florida, who refuse to be silent about the epidemic of gun violence and have rallied millions to their cause," Cook said.

"Fearless like the women who say: 'Me Too' and 'Time’s Up.' Women who cast light into dark places and move us to a more just and equal future."

Time magazine, which printed a transcript of his speech, said he also added:

"Fearless like those who fight for the rights of immigrants… who understand that our only hopeful future is one that embraces all who want to contribute."

And he said: "Be the last people to accept things as they are, and the first people to stand up, and change them for the better."
