The first suspect identified in the Barcelona terror attack may have stolen his older brother's identification to rent the van used in to ram the crowd, according to news reports.
Spanish police identified the first suspect as Driss Oukabir Soprano in the attack that killed 13 and injured 50 others, Fox News reports.
However, the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia reported early Friday that a man who identified himself as Soprano went to local police and reported that his identification had been stolen by his younger brother.
Soprano, born in 1989, is a Moroccan citizen who lived in Spain legally, according to the Fox report.
"He's gone to the police station and reported the theft of his documentation," Fox host Shepard Smith reported.
"Turns out, whoever the suspect is may have stolen his documents," he added. "This may not be the suspect at all.
"We're waiting for clarification on this from the local authorities."
