House Speaker John Boehner should shut down "right now" any use of the Benghazi scandal for fundraising purposes, Rep. Elijah Cummings said Thursday.
BeghaziWatchdogs.com on Wednesday sent an email about the investigation into the 2012 attack, encouraging support and donations "to get to the bottom of what happened and what Hillary Clinton's involvement was."
The email also appeared on the National Republican Congressional Committee website, according to
The Wall Street Journal.

"Speaker Boehner can shut this fundraising effort down right now, and he should," Cummings told MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
Rep. Trey Gowdy, the South Carolina Republican chairing the select committee into the Benghazi attack, on Wednesday told Fox News he would encourage lawmakers and groups to refrain from using the issue for fundraising purposes. Using himself as an example, Gowdy said he had "never sought to raise a single penny on the backs of four murdered Americans."
Cummings, a Maryland Democrat, stressed the need for bipartisanship and "fairness" in the Benghazi select committee. While some Democrats have threatened to boycott the committee, Cummings said he couldn't "imagine a hearing being at all fair if we're not there."
