Kerik Warning of ISIS Social Media Skills, Is Quickly Tweeted About by ISIS

By    |   Sunday, 21 September 2014 09:21 AM EDT

Bernark Kerik, New York Police Commissioner on 9/11, was on CNN Saturday warning about the social media impact of the Islamic State (ISIS), and not long afterward his words were being tweeted about by followers of the terrorist group.

Kerik noted that ISIS has the best social media and communications wing of anyone seen, warning that the United States must keep on top of their Twitter and Facebook sites to keep them off the Internet.

"As fast as we have been shutting them down they have been getting back up and running," Kerik said, "and they are calling for attacks in this country just like we saw the other day in Australia," where a plot was foiled to attack and behead people randomly on the street.

Story continues after video.

Not long after Kerik made the statements, a Twitter account Kerik described to Newsmax as being from ISIS tweeted about his appearance.

It was quickly retweeted and responded to by multiple followers, all writing in Arabic.

"I supposed they proved my point," Kerik told Newsmax.

Kerik told CNN there are believed to be between 100 and 1,000 Americans who have gone to ISIS in Syria and Iraq "to engage in some of the most savage behavior I've seen since Saddam was dethroned.

"Those people are coming back here," Kerik said. "They're going to come back to the United States, and they're going to melt back into the communities like some kind of chameleon."

Terrorist attacks will continue for decades, he warned, whether they come from ISIS, al-Qaida, al-Shabab or other groups.

"There is an extremist, radical Muslim element that wants the demise of this country," he said.
