It’s not the Iron Throne, but the presidency is our closest equivalency and the creator of mega-hit TV show “Game of Thrones” has given his approval to Joe Biden's 2020 presidential campaign. Writing in his personal blog, George R.R. Martin said he was "pleased that Joe Biden finally announced his candidacy for president," according to The Hill.
The former Vice President formally joined the crowded Democratic presidential contest at the end of April and, while Martin said he would probably vote for any Dem, and expressed hostility toward President Trump, Biden won his praise.
"The main things I want in a nominee, however, are twofold. (1) someone who can beat Trump, and (2) someone who would actually be a good/ great president. Biden qualifies on both counts," noted the author, whose "A Song of Ice and Fire" series formed the basis for GoT.
While he doesn’t have the army of the unsullied to propel his cause, Biden is handily leading the democratic race according to most polls.
While GoT has millions of viewers, Martin’s endorsement is not likely to give Biden any type of boost and in fact the candidate may not even want to mention it considering that the show is mired in controversy during its final season, which ends tonight, with fans furious over plot twists and developments that they find unrealistic.
