President Donald Trump on Friday mocked former Vice President Joe Biden for mistakenly saying “white kids” when he meant “wealthy kids,” saying the Democrat “is not playing with a full deck.”
Biden said during a campaign stop in Iowa on Thursday that “poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids. Wealthy kids. Black kids. Asian kids. No, I really mean it. But think how we think about it.”
"Joe is not playing with a full deck. He made that comment, I said 'woah,' " Trump told reporters outside the White House, according to The Hill.
"This is not somebody you can have as your president, but if he got the nomination I’d be thrilled," he added.
“Donald Trump’s deck is all jokers,” a campaign aide told Fox News.
“Vice President Biden misspoke and immediately corrected himself during a refrain he often uses to make the point that all children deserve a fair shot, and children born into lower-income circumstances are just as smart as those born to wealthy parents,” his campaign said in a statement to the Hill. “Joe Biden has spent his life fighting for civil rights and the dignity of all people.”
Trump, 73, has repeatedly insinuated that Biden, 76, is not mentally or physically up to the task of president as the former vice president continues to hold the lead in most polls of Democratic candidates for the White House.
