Rep. Biggs Predicts Nadler Won't Subpoena Mueller

By    |   Monday, 03 June 2019 12:37 PM EDT

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler won't end up issuing a subpoena against special counsel Robert Mueller because he'll end up having to hold him in contempt, just as he did Attorney General William Barr after he refused to testify, Rep. Andy Biggs, a member of the committee, said Monday.

"I don't think Mueller is going to appear," the Georgia Republican told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "He doesn’t want to come back. You know, the Republicans are going to ask some really pointed questions. The Democrats want to mine him for criminal activity."

But most of all, Biggs said, Nadler won't subpoena Mueller because of the contempt issue, and that has the chairman "kind of between a rock and a hard place."

"He's walked himself into a cul-de-sac right now," said Biggs. "Boy, he doesn't really want Mueller even though he says he wants Mueller.”

Meanwhile, the major investigation concerns investigating the investigators who instigated the probe of the president and his campaign said Biggs.

"Right now, we don't know how this investigation started except for we do know there was abuse of the FISA warrants," said Biggs. "We know there was the use of the CIA, going to entrap George Papadopoulos who basically was a low-level staffer. We know there were attempts to influence the election through kind of focusing on the Trump campaign. These were done for political purposes...this is really the investigation into the existential purpose of the FBI and DOJ."

Without the investigation into the Trump probe origins, "you have just have basically degraded the American people's trust in these otherwise fine institutions," said Biggs.
