Kristol: US Repeating 'Decline and Fall of Rome' in Mere Months

Conservative commentator and writer Bill Kristol warned Sunday that the nation is "recapitulating the decline and fall of Rome."

The startling admonition was linked to President Donald Trump's Twitter post of a video showing him beating up a person with a CNN logo on their face.

"What took Rome centuries we're achieving in months," Kristol tweeted.

Kristol has been an unrelenting critic of the president – trying, and failing, to enlist a third-party candidate to run against Trump last year.

He recently proposed launching a political movement called "The New Whigs," ABC News reported.
