O'Reilly: 'No Blue Wave' in Elections

By    |   Wednesday, 07 November 2018 12:25 PM EST

Bill O’Reilly slammed NBC and CNN for calling the Indiana Senate race for Republican Mike Braun at 9 p.m. Tuesday, saying the networks could have called it an hour earlier but didn’t because “they didn’t want to send a signal to people in Nevada and Arizona that the Republicans might have a good night.”

He also criticized pollsters who used the traditional method and depicted the midterm elections as a dogfight in each district, each state.

Tuesday’s election gave a split decision to Democrats and to President Donald Trump, with Democrats winning the House by a 220-193 margin as early as Wednesday morning – 21 seats are still undecided – while Republicans kept control of the Senate.

Braun bested Democrat Joe Donnelly, 54 to 42 percent, to flip Indiana’s Senate seat.

“It was not a contest from the second the polls closed,” O’Reilly told John Cardillo and John Bachman during an appearance on Newsmax TV Tuesday night of Braun's win.

“They had exit poll data that confirmed what I said,” added O’Reilly, the host of the “No Spin Show.”

O’Reilly also said the traditional method of polling – having live persons call telephone numbers chosen at random - was outdated.

“The people paying for the polls want a certain outcome – that’s what’s happening. You make a mistake in 2016 – OK – Trump shocked the world. You make a mistake in 2018, two years later – not OK,” O’Reilly said.

Referencing the supposed “blue wave,” O’Reilly said it wasn’t happening.

“There’s no blue wave on the East Coast or the Midwest – that’s not happening at all. So it’s like a dogfight in each district and in each state, which makes it very interesting,” he added.
