Groups backed by former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg are pouring millions of dollars into House races in a bid for Democrats to regain control, Axios is reporting.

One of the groups, Everytown for Gun Safety, which advocates for gun control, is spending $11 million for digital ads to boost vulnerable Democrats.

According to Axios, it marks the largest digital investment ever made by a Democratic non-profit to win the House.

The group and Bloomberg’s Independence USA PAC have targeted dozens of districts with issue ads ranging from gun control to the GOP’s tax plan.

Axios noted Bloomberg is reported to be considering a possible bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020. The ads also will serve to test the strategies and possible messaging in advance of a 2020 run, the website said.

Bloomberg announced earlier this month that he is formally changing his voter registration to Democrat. He had been a political independent since leaving the GOP in 2007.
