Bob McDonnell, the former governor of Virginia, has joined Newsmax TV as an on-air contributor.
Governor McDonnell brings a wealth of experience, having served 14 years in the Virginia General Assembly, as state attorney general, and as 71st governor from 2010-2014.
McDonnell will be a political and legal analyst for the 24/7 cable news network, covering the Trump administration, the 2020 race and significant issues of the day.
"It's a thrill to be part of Newsmax TV and providing honest commentary on the many issues facing America," McDonnell said. "Newsmax is known for telling it like it is with candor and civility, and that's the way it should be in this country."
McDonnell retired from public office in 2014 after 38 years in public service. He is now a lawyer in private practice, owns a business consulting company and is a law and government professor at both Regent and Liberty Universities. He serves on several corporate and community boards.
"Bob has had a long and distinguished career in public service and intimately knows the ins and outs of government and politics," said Elliot Jacobson, chief content officer and EVP of programming. "He's a very valuable addition to our growing roster of distinguished commentators on Newsmax TV."
A native of Philadelphia, McDonnell graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BBA, Boston University with an MSBA and Regent with a JD and MA in public policy. He also served in the Army, both active-duty and reserves, retiring after 21 years as a lieutenant colonel.
During his time as governor, McDonnell enacted significant job creation and regulatory reform policies, reducing unemployment and restructuring higher education.
He joins Newsmax TV as the network reaches over 70 million cable and satellite homes, the channel has become America's fastest-growing cable news channel targeting baby boomers with a heartland perspective.
