Washington Post associate editor Bob Woodward admitted in a new interview that some members of the media have "become emotionally unhinged" regarding the Trump administration.

Woodward spoke with Newsweek about a new MasterClass.com journalism workshop he has created. During the interview, he was asked about the current state of the media.

"First of all, journalists can always do better. Myself at the top of the list. I don't think journalism is failing at all in the Trump era. But we have a lot of work to do," Woodward said. "A number of reporters have at times become emotionally unhinged about it all, one way or the other.

"Look at MSNBC or Fox News, and you will see those continually either denigrating Trump or praising him. I think the answer is in the middle, and in this class I talk about how it's important to get your personal politics out. It's destructive to become too politicized. The emotion should be directed at doing more work, not some feeling or personal conclusion."

Woodward and Washington Post reporter Carl Bernstein famously investigated and wrote about a break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate building in 1972, which ultimately led them to uncovering a scandal that reached President Richard Nixon.

Woodward told Newsweek the possibility exists that President Donald Trump could resign from the White House in a cloud of scandal like Nixon did.

"You never know in Trump world. I think it's possible," Woodward said. "He has the authority to make sure that the special counsel is fired or out of office."

Many on the right side of the political aisle, including Trump and other Republicans in office, bash the news media for what they see is a left-leaning bias. Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer is even writing a book about the media bias against his old boss.
