The U.S.-led bombing campaign against ISIS set a record in August, with the military dropping 5,075 bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan, Business Insider reported Wednesday.

The total was the highest during the United States' three-year operation against ISIS. The report comes a day after Military.com reported the Air Force in August released more than 500 weapons in Afghanistan against the Taliban, al-Qaida, and ISIS, the most in a single month since 2012.

President Donald Trump's policies brought "dramatic" gains against ISIS in the first six months of 2017, resulting in about 8,000 square miles being reclaimed in Iraq and Syria. More civilians have been killed as a result of intensified bombing, though, with at least 2,200 killed since Trump was inaugurated Jan. 20 through mid-July.

The U.S.-coalition has released 32,801 weapons on ISIS in 2017 compared to 30,743 bombs last year and military operations have increased in Syria and Iraq in recent months. Trump promised during the campaign to "bomb the hell out of ISIS," and has made good on that pledge.
