In an upcoming memoir, Hillary Clinton will bare her private thoughts about her devastating loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential race and how yelling at her television set helped her recover from the defeat.
In a teaser for the as-yet titled book, Simon & Schuster says a description of the Clinton, "free from the constraints of politics," will describe what it was like to be the female presidential nominee "in an election marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs, and infuriating lows, kooky theatrics, Russian interference, a maddening inattention to serious issues, deplorable (yes, deplorable) bigotry, and an opponent who broke all the rules."
Clinton will discuss "what it was like to run against Donald Trump, the mistakes she made, how she has coped with a shocking and devastating loss, and what the experience has taught her about life," the publisher says.
"With humor and candor, she tells readers what it took to get back on her feet — the rituals, the relationships, and occasional yelling at the television."
Clinton also will address the "challenges of being a strong woman in public life, the criticism over her voice, age, and body, and how all women in politics confront a double standard whenever they express anger or ambition."
Simon & Schuster says the memoir, to be released Sept. 26, "is a guide not just for how to persist in politics, but also how to win in the real contest of life."
