The 13 people rescued from captivity in a Southern California home on Sunday were the biological children of their captors, police Captain Gregory Fellows told reporters Tuesday.

The hostages, ages 2 to 29, had been held for "a prolonged period of time," a social services official said at a press conferencre.

Authorities have no evidence that the 13 captives were sexually abused.

Further, authorities had not previously been called to the home.
