Former CIA Director John Brennan sent out a tweet calling on Congress to declassify the CIA's findings on Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi's murder.

"Since Mr. Trump excels in dishonesty, it is now up to members of Congress to obtain & declassify the CIA findings on Jamal Khashoggi's death," wrote Brennan, a fierce critic of the president. "No one in Saudi Arabia – most especially the Crown Prince – should escape accountability for such a heinous act."

He sent the tweet after Trump declared Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman would not be punished even if he ordered the murder of Khashoggi.

In explaining his decision, Trump stressed the importance of financial considerations for American interests in making strategic alliances, telling reporters "We're not going to give up hundreds of billions of dollars in orders and let Russia, China and everybody else have them. It's all about, for me, very simple, America first," Politico reported.

Brennan's comments also came as Trump faced bipartisan criticism for his stance as a betrayal of American values, with many pointing out the CIA's reported conclusion there is a high probability the crown prince had ordered the murder.
