President Donald Trump once again mocked global warming on Sunday, this time using Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar's announcement that she is running for president before supporters outside in steady snowfall and frigid temperatures in Minneapolis.
“Well, it happened again. Amy Klobuchar announced that she is running for President, talking proudly of fighting global warming while standing in a virtual blizzard of snow, ice and freezing temperatures,” Trump wrote in a tweet. “Bad timing. By the end of her speech she looked like a Snowman(woman)!”
Klobuchar, a three-term senator, made a point in her campaign launch that she would fight for environmental issues, including a promise to "put forth sweeping legislation to invest in green jobs and infrastructure" and declaring that she would begin the process of the U.S. rejoining the Paris Climate Accord "on day one" of her administration, The Hill reported.
The senator did not mention Trump by name, but alluded to him when she said the nation deserved better than "foreign policy by tweet."
Klobuchar became the latest Democrat to enter the 2020 presidential campaign, joining, among others, Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, and Kirsten Gillibrand.
Trump has mocked extremely cold temperatures numerous times in recent months, saying that the frigid weather contradicts claims of global warming and climate change.
Experts have repeatedly said in response that there is a difference between climate and the particular weather during a short time frame.
