CNN president Jeff Zucker sounded an alarm to journalists Thursday night, suggesting that suggested the Trump administration is a threat to journalism, a New York Times reporter Liam Stack said on Twitter.

Zucker made his remarks at the awards gala of the Overseas Press Club of America. Stack is secretary of the organization's board of directors.

Zucker's criticism echoes remarkes he's previously aimed at President Donald Trump, who, for his part, has waged a war of words against the cable news outlet.

Zucker claimed in January that Trump wants to "delegitimize journalism," and Trump has pummeled CNN with criticism, calling the network "fake news," and in February, including it in a litany of outlets — The New York Times, NBC, ABC and CBS — that he said are "the enemy of the American people."

Trump has even called out Zucker personally, the Daily Caller noted, relating that in a contentious exchange with CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta, Trump told the journalist to "ask Jeff Zucker how he got his job."
