CNN is dropping one of its contributors who recently got a new job running a conservative news website.

According to BuzzFeed News, Eliana Johnson — who worked as a White House reporter for Politico but is leaving that site for The Washington Free Beacon — will no longer appear on CNN after her contract ends in November.

BuzzFeed reported that CNN cited the fact that Johnson will no longer be a White House correspondent in its decision to cut ties. Johnson will run the Free Beacon, a website that launched in 2012.

"CNN has a right to tap or drop contributors at any point," Johnson told BuzzFeed. "None of us is entitled to a contract renewal."

Johnson started working for CNN in a contributor role in November 2017. Before joining Politico, she worked for conservative media outlets.

In June, it was announced that former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, had signed on with CNN as a political commentator.

This week, Fox News Jeanine Pirro revealed that her employer has banned her from appearing on Newsmax TV.
