Anchors and reporters at CNN have had personal information leaked and received threats in the aftermath of a story that was perceived as a threat to the Reddit user at the center of a tweet by the president, The Daily Caller reported.
Investigative reporter Andrew Kaczynski, whose byline was on the story that has been perceived as blackmailing the Reddit user who was the source of a parody video President Donald Trump used showing him beating up a CNN head, has had his home address posted online, the Daily Caller reported.
And he's not alone.
Anchors and reporters have had their info leaked, been threatened with violence, and trolls have encouraged stories alleging pedophilia and child porn against CNN staffers, the Daily Caller reported.
"Frustrated by our critics' double standards," a CNN insider told The Daily Caller. "Frustrated that CNN staffers' private information is being published in 'retaliation' — when the network made the decision to not out the Reddit user. Frustrated by the speed in which misinformation, lies and hate spreads."
Kaczynski's story explicitly said CNN was not naming the Reddit user in question because he was a private citizen who had apologized. However, a sentence added in the editing process, DC reported, ignited a wave against Kaczynski and network talent:
"CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change."
Trump has said he didn't use the video of the Reddit user, but instead got it somewhere else. He has refused to identify where that somewhere else is.
