Former FBI Director James Comey says there is no chance Hillary Clinton will be prosecuted in the case involving her emails.
Comey made his remarks Monday, while speaking at a town hall event in Sarasota, Florida, reports Fox 13.
"There is zero chance, zero chance, on the facts in the Hillary Clinton case, that she would be prosecuted," Comey said. "You are out of your mind if you don't think the FBI wanted to make a case if we could. The facts weren't there. Period. Full stop."
Clinton used a private email server and several email addresses during her time as secretary of state when Barack Obama was president. The FBI ruled in 2016 that her actions did not cross any criminal lines, but Republicans have continued to press for more investigations.
Meanwhile, Comey offered words of caution regarding the Russia investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller.
“I hope that people don’t hope for a particular outcome," he said. "We should all root only that the work be finished and that the facts be found. Whatever they are, they are.”
Comey also was critical of President Donald Trump.
“He is one of the worst listeners as a leader that I’ve ever seen, and all of us who have thought about leadership that’s deeply concerning, and that he doesn’t have an external framework," he said.
