Attorney General William Barr has to figure out just how high in President Barack Obama's administration did the authorization to spy on the Trump campaign come, and it is "100%" former President Obama knew himself, according to former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
"[Trump] absolutely thinks that this went directly to the top of the previous administration," Lewandowski told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "There is no way an opportunity like this to spy on a political opponent was not vetted at the highest levels of the government, whether it was Susan Rice or the Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes or Barack Obama himself.
"Somebody sanctioned this. His Department of Justice filed an application to spy on guys like Carter page, Corey Lewandowski, Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and everybody else at that campaign because they didn't like our politics."
Spying on political opponents is more than just a bad look, according to Lewandowski, who called it "illegal" and "Trump derangement syndrome."
"We're American citizens," Lewandowski added. "We fought for what we believed in. If the criteria is, 'We don't like your politics, and we can spy on you,' guess what, the Democrats better be very concerned."
Inspector General Michael Horowitz's report on potential FISA abuses will come in 60-90 days, according to Lewandowski, who suggests members of the Obama administration will be either indicted or "referred for criminal prosecution."
