Fifty-seven percent of voters believe Donald Trump committed crimes before becoming president, a new Quinnipiac University poll reveals.
Just 28% do not believe he committed crimes before moving into the White House.
By comparison, a March poll taken before the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report showed 64% believed Trump committed crimes before he was elected and 24% did not.
Here are the highlights from the new poll:
- 46% say he committed crimes since taking office and 46% say he did not.
- 54% say Trump attempted to derail or obstruct the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election, compared to 42% who say he did not.
- 51% say the Mueller report did not clear Trump of any wrongdoing, while 38%say it did.
- 66% say Congress should not begin impeachment proceedings against the president, while 29% say it should.
- 41% approve of the job Trump is doing as president, compared to 55% who disapprove.
- 52% trust the media over Trump to tell the truth about important issues, while 35% trust Trump more.
- 59% say the Supreme Court justices are too influenced by politics, while 35% say they are not.
The poll, conducted April 26-29, surveyed 1,044 voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
