Monica Crowley: Obama Re-election Is ‘Tipping Point’ For America

By    |   Monday, 19 November 2012 03:33 PM EST

President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party have managed to move America to the “tipping point” of becoming a failed entitlement state similar to Western Europe by growing government and giving things away, said Fox News contributor Monica Crowley in an exclusive interview with Newsmax TV.

The Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, she also said, is the result of Obama’s weak, ineffective foreign policy that threatens the stability of the entire Middle East. His acceptance of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and their ties to Hamas, could be the lynchpin that makes the most recent flare-up of Israeli-Palestinian warfare engulf the region.

“Another four years and, yes, the country would be so far past the tipping point in terms of dependency and wealth redistribution,” Crowley said. “It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to unravel. We still have a short window of time as conservatives to refine our message — not give up our principles — but refine our message and our messaging and our messengers, so we can pull the country back from the brink.”

Crowley called Mitt Romney a “brilliant and visionary” candidate who lost out to an incumbent that managed to hoodwink the American public into believing a distorted view of the country pushed by the liberal media.

“There were bigger things happening in the county that we as conservatives really need to understand and think about, and then try to re-calibrate our approach to dealing with,” she said. “The far left has had this grand project going for decades, but what Obama and the far left have been able to succeed in doing, in just four short years, is get us to the tipping point. By tipping point, I mean more people dependent on government than not.”

“This is why you see a continuation, a deliberate continuation, of a really crappy economy — because when you have a crappy economy, never let a good crisis go to waste. This feeds into their whole objective of growing government as fast as possible, the objective of that is to move as many people into dependency on government as possible.”

Without retreating from the GOP’s core issues, Crowley said the party needs to reexamine the way they deliver their message.

The proof, she believes, is that many young people — who broke for Obama in 2008, and to a lesser extent in 2012 — voted for Ron Paul, and then Gary Johnson. Even if they were only looking toward either of them for legalized marijuana, it still comes down to freedom, she said.

Latinos didn’t lean Republican after Ronald Reagan’s blanket amnesty policy, which only emboldens her belief that if the basic conservative message were more clear, the party could retake the White House easily.

“Rather than get stuck in what the media wants to frame all these issues, whether they are women’s issues, or minority issues – don’t play on that field, don’t play in their territory,” Crowley said. “Take the narrative back and bring it back to the simple issues of freedom. That’s limited government, it’s fiscal responsibility, it’s economic freedom, and it’s a strong foreign policy. Those resonate and they are timeless no matter what generation you are in.”

Crowley said the slow creep of America becoming an entitlement society and the media helped Democrats to hold onto the Senate as Obama was being re-elected.

The chances of appointing a special investigator to actually find out what happened in the attack on the consulate in Benghazi are slim, at best, because Democrats will never call to have their own investigated for wrongdoing.

“I don’t think we’re going to get one this time. But this is a case that cries out for it,” she said. “You think about Watergate. Nobody died. There were no dead bodies in Watergate... Here we have four dead American bodies and we really need an objective inquiry into what happened because the key is not just what the president knew and when he knew, what Eric Holder knew and when he knew it, why there wasn’t additional security there, why there wasn’t back up or where the stand-down order came during the seven hour attack?”

“This wasn’t a 30-minute attack where they couldn’t get their acts together. This was seven hours. Those people were screaming for help and backup and they never got it. But the bigger question is, we talk about a cover up, most Americans believe there was a cover up, but the key question is what are they covering up? What was really going on in Benghazi? We need to have the answers to that.”

Crowley said the escalating war between Israel and the Palestinians is another example of what she describes as an inept policy Obama has pushed in the Middle East.

Hamas, the controlling party in Palestinian politics, is connected to the Muslim Brotherhood. Without American pressure, and clear support from the U.S., she said it won’t be long before the Muslim Brotherhood-associated leaders in Egypt try to move into Israel.

The Muslim Brotherhood, she surmises, is running much of Libya and Syria, with the latter “essentially a satellite of Iran,” spelling clear trouble for Israel.

“So what you’re looking at right now if you’re Benjamin Netanyahu and you’re the Israeli people is that now you are literally encircled by Iran from your northern border to the east to the south,” Crowley said. “You know you’re on your own. If I’m Israel, I go for broke . . . It’s utterly disgraceful that the commander-in-chief of the United States, Israel’s only friend in the world, cannot even summon a word of moral support for Israel. It’s a disgrace.”
