Texas Sen. Ted Cruz will be skipping President Barack Obama's last State of the Union speech next week – but it's not personal.
It's politics, a spokesman tells the
Dallas Morning News.
The GOP presidential contender intends to spend the day on the stump, and be in Londonderry, N.H., at a "State of Our Union Town Hall Meeting with Senator Ted Cruz," the Morning News reports.
"It's not a snub," spokesman Rick Tyler tells the newspaper. "He's going to be in New Hampshire, working hard to win New Hampshire. No disrespect. It just is going to work out this way."
The three other Senate members who're also running for the presidential nomination — GOP Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida and Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Democratic contender Bernie Sanders of Vermont — will all attend,
The Hill reports.
