Fifty-eight percent of likely New York voters are backing Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s re-election, while 35 percent support his Republican challenger Marc Molinaro, a new Quinnipiac University Poll reveals.
The New York survey results, released Thursday, break down:
- 62 percent of women support Cuomo, compared to 30 percent who back Molinaro.
- 54 percent of men favor Cuomo, while 40 percent support Molinaro.
- 77 percent of New York City voters back Cuomo, compared to 13 percent who favor Molinaro.
- 52 percent of suburban voters support Cuomo, while 45 percent back Molinaro.
- 52 percent of upstate voters favor Molinaro, compared to 41 percent who support Cuomo.
- 58 percent of likely voters back Democratic incumbent Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, while 33 percent support her Republican challenger Chele Farley.
The poll, conducted Oct. 10-16, surveyed 852 likely voters in New York. The margin of error is 4.4 percentage points.
