Former Republican Rep. Cynthia Lummis officially kicked off her campaign for the Senate seat from Wyoming , now held by the GOP’s Mike Enzi.
Enzi has said he will retire in 2020.
“I’m ready to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with President Trump to ensure conservative voices are heard loud and clear and to deliver real results for Wyoming people,” Lummis is quoted by Roll Call.
Lummis had actually filed to run in June, but made her campaign official with a Thursday announcement.
According to Roll Call, Lummis has worked on her family’s ranch since she decided not to seek a fifth term in 2016. During her time in Congress, she was the lone female member of the House Freedom Caucus.
CNN noted observers are now watching to see whether Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., will enter the race. She challenged Enzi in 2014, but withdrew seven months before the primary.
