Thirty-two percent of Democratic voters support former Vice President Joe Biden – giving him a wide lead over other 2020 candidates vying for the party's nomination, a new USA Today/Suffolk University poll reveals.

His support is up 2 percentage points from the June poll.

Here are the results, released Wednesday, for some of the other candidates:

  • 14% support Sen. Elizabeth Warre, D-Mass. – an increase of 4 percentage points.
  • 12% back Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. – a drop of 3 percentage points.
  • 6% favor South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
  • 6% support Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif.

No other candidate polled more than 3%.

The pollster also asked all voters if the candidate they support lost in the 2020 election, how confident would they be in the results.

Here are their answers:

  • 32% would be somewhat confident.
  • 21% would be very confident.
  • 20% would be not very confident.
  • 18% not at all confident.
  • 9% had no opinion.

The full poll, conducted Aug. 20-25, surveyed 1,000 registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
