DeSantis Trolls Trump With 'Accident Tracker' on X

By    |   Tuesday, 24 October 2023 02:06 PM EDT

Former President Donald Trump's team has trolled Gov. Ron DeSantis over his problematic presidential campaign launch, the pronunciation of his surname, and his baseball-star status.

Now, the Florida governor's team is fighting back and trolling Trump, with the "Trump Accident Tracker" on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The "DeSantis War Room" on X tweeted: "BREAKING: Today we are unveiling the ‘Trump Accident Tracker’ — a way of recording how long the former president can go without a workplace accident on the campaign trail. Why is this needed? We’ll explain."

A thread on the X post states: "Every time Trump veers off the teleprompter, what happens? He becomes a major liability for his campaign. Yesterday is a great example. Trump tried to give a shoutout to Viktor Orban — 'the leader of Turkey,' but Orban is the prime minister of Hungary."

The next post goes: "Then Trump laid out his foolproof strategy to win in 2024: convince Republicans NOT to vote! You don't have to vote, don't worry about voting. We got plenty of votes."

A further post says: "But it’s not just his behavior this week that’s concerning — this has been a problem all year. In July, Trump randomly attacked conservative Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds."

"Just days after 1,300 Israelis and 30 Americans were murdered, Trump slammed the Israeli leadership and said the terror group Hezbollah is “very smart.” Trump and his team released nearly a dozen statements cleaning this up."

Then DeSantis compares his anti-abortion stance with that of Trump: "'Terrible' — that’s how Trump recently described pro-life laws passed in numerous conservative states (including Iowa and South Carolina)."

A further poke at Trump's foreign policy: "Just two weeks ago, Trump said the Chinese Communist Party 'may very well turn out to be fine,' then attacked conservatives who want economic independence. Is this the Trump you remember from 2016?"

Whether this X trolling will help DeSantis improve his polling remains uncertain. Trump is leading the Republican primary field nationally, with 57% to DeSantis' 13.5%, according to an Oct. 23 tracking poll on 538.com.

DeSantis has argued that we don't have a national primary, only individual state primaries.

In the FiveThirtyEight New Hampshire poll of Oct. 18, Trump leads with 44% and DeSantis has 11.8%.
