Rep. Nunes: Page Transcripts Show Conspiracy for Hillary

By    |   Thursday, 14 March 2019 02:44 PM EDT

Transcripts of former FBI attorney Lisa Page's Congressional testimony show there was an effort not to charge 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in connection with mishandling classified information in connection with her use of a private email server, Rep. Devin Nunes said Thursday.

"There were dozens and dozens of classified emails that were put onto an illegal server that was then destroyed," the California Republican said on Fox News' "America's Newsroom."

"That was likely picked up by foreign intelligence. God knows what countries have these classified emails that Clinton was sending. She should have been held accountable and she wasn't. There was a conspiracy to ensure that she was not prosecuted."

Earlier this week, Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee released transcripts from their interview last year with Page, showing new details about the FBI's internal discussions on Clinton about the anti-Trump text messages she'd exchanged with FBI Agent Peter Strzok, with whom she was romantically involved.

"The fact that [Clinton] wasn't prosecuted on something that rank-and-file people in the military and intelligence community get prosecuted for is unfathomable at this point," Nunes said.

Meanwhile, depositions are expected to be released today involving former British spy Christopher Steele, the person who compiled a dossier on Trump and Russia that eventually was used by the FBI.

"Thankfully the courts have ordered that deposition to be released so it could be the first time that we actually see if Christopher Steele actually did talk to Russians and write the entire dossier that was then used by the FBI to target the Trump campaign," said Nunes.
