Members of the Democratic National Committee will meet with nearly 300 top donors next week in Washington, Politico is reporting.
The planned Tuesday meeting comes as the DNC has raised about $174 million through October, more than $100 million less than the Republican National Committee. But it also comes after Democrats regained control of the House in the midterm elections and picked up governorships, Politico noted.
Seema Nanda, the DNC’s chief executive officer, said Democrats are “building off the momentum we saw in the midterms.”
“We have a lot of work to do,” she said. “We know what we’re up against for 2020, and a lot of that requires planning early”
After the midterm results, DNC Chairman Tom Perez said more work needs to be done by Democrats.
“Turnout was up on both sides, so when you look at the modeling that was in place, we turned out more voters than ever before and we have to keep working at it," he said.
