Breitbart News CEO Larry Solov is demanding an apology from Donald Trump's campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, who is being accused of roughing up one of the website's reporters during his boss's post-primary press conference Tuesday.
The reporter, Michelle Fields, was trying to ask just one more question when Trump was leaving the stage, when she was grabbed by the arm,
reports Politico. She said she didn't see who grabbed her, but Solov said in a statement that The Washington Post's Ben Terris told her that it was Lewandowski.
"It's obviously unacceptable that someone crossed a line and made physical contact with our reporter,"
Solov said in a statement on the Breitbart website. "What Michelle has told us directly is that someone 'grabbed her arm' and while she did not see who it was, Ben Terris of The Washington Post told her that it was Corey Lewandowski. If that's the case, Corey owes Michelle an immediate apology."
Ironically,
reports The Post, the incident occurred during a press conference in which Trump "seemed almost friendly at times" with journalists, calling them by name and answering their questions by hour, all while
showing off an array of his personal marketing products, including steaks and wines.
There are varying reports about the severity of the arm grab, but the incident apparently did not reach the level of violence that occurred at a Trump rally in Virginia last week, when a Secret Service agent grabbed Time Magazine photographer Chris Morris by the neck after he tried to leave a press pen.
A source, though, told Politico that Fields was moved out of the way and nearly brought to the ground, and she was roughed up by the move.
Her boyfriend,
Daily Caller senior editor Jaime Weinstein, tweeted about the situation:
However, Fields herself isn't commenting publicly about the incident.
Breitbart and Trump have enjoyed a friendly relationship over the years,
The Post reports, and the real estate billionaire has given several exclusives to Breitbart political editor Matthew Boyle since announcing his campaign.
