President Donald Trump congratulated ABC News on Saturday for suspending investigative reporter Brian Ross for his inaccurate report on Michael Flynn, while Eric Trump tweeted that the error caused a 350-point drop on Wall Street — costing investors "millions of dollars."

Here are their posts:

ABC said Saturday that it had suspended Ross for four weeks without pay and apologized for a "serious error" in his Friday report.

Ross initially reported that during last year's presidential campaign, Republican candidate Donald Trump had directed Flynn, who was a campaign adviser, to reach out to the Russians.

On Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 350 points following the report — and the Standard & Poor's index of 500 stocks fell as much as 1.6 percent.

But Ross later clarified the report, saying his source had actually said that Trump asked Flynn to contact the Russians as president-elect, not before the election, about issues including working together to fight the Islamic State.

The network was widely criticized for not immediately correcting the report, though it issued a correction later that evening.

"We deeply regret and apologize for the serious error we made yesterday," ABC News said in a statement from Heather Riley, its vice president of communications. "The reporting conveyed by Brian Ross during the special report had not been fully vetted through our editorial standards process.

"As a result of our continued reporting over the next several hours, ultimately we determined the information was wrong and we corrected the mistake on air and online.

"It is vital we get the story right and retain the trust we have built with our audience — these are our core principles," ABC said. "We fell far short of that yesterday."
