Although Republican adviser Karl Rove said he doesn't think President Biden will be on the Democrat presidential ticket in November, it would be "pure lunacy" to suggest it will be Michelle Obama.
Rove was asked on Fox Business Network to address an expected rematch between former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden. Rove's theory is that Biden will be encouraged to step aside and allow a younger Democrat to take the reins.
"Somebody is going to wake up on that side, Jill Biden or maybe his sister, Valerie Biden Owens, and say, 'You know, Joe, this is not the way for you to go down in the history books," said Rove, former chief of staff under former President George W. Bush. "'Step aside, let somebody else be chosen at the convention and let somebody else go against Donald Trump in the fall.'
"I just think the Democrats are not going to allow this to continue."
Rove was asked a possible candidacy for Obama, wife of former President Barack Obama.
"No, no, look, look, she hates politics," Rove said. "You read her autobiography. She didn't want her husband to run for the state Senate. She didn't want him to run for the presidency. She is not a political animal. ... She loves the life she's got."
Other candidates who have been mentioned as possible replacements for Biden are California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
Rove said that talk of of a Michelle Obama candidacy is "a weird obsession of the conspiratorial right." In January, Dick Morris told Newsmax that Democrats will "pull a switch and they're going to put Michelle in."
