Former President Donald Trump early Thursday announced on Truth Social he has arrived in Manhattan for a deposition before New York Attorney General Letitia James, slamming the Democrat official for using her office in "another unjust and ridiculous persecution" against him.
"Just arrived in Manhattan for a deposition in front of New York State's RACIST, TRUMP HATING Attorney General, Letitia 'Peekaboo' James, in another unjust & ridiculous persecution of The 45th President of the United States," Trump posted shortly after midnight.
"I built a GREAT & prosperous company, employed thousands of people, built magnificent structures all over the World, but particularly in New York, & now have to prove it to this LOWLIFE who campaigned on a 'I will get Trump' platform, even before knowing anything about me!" he added.
James' civil lawsuit, filed last fall, alleges that Trump and his company, the Trump Organization, misstated the value of assets on annual financial statements to obtain favorable bank loans and tax benefits.
She is seeking $250 million as well as a ban to keep Trump from doing business in the state of New York.
An Oct. 2 trial date has been set, but state Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over the case, told lawyers for the former president and the Trump Organization, who were pushing for the trial to be postponed, that the date for the proceedings is "written in stone," reports NBC News.
"This case is complex, but it's not complicated," Engoron said of the request by Trump, his three oldest children, and his company, who were seeking more time to work on their defense, claiming that the deadline for discovery was unfair.
Trump's Thursday trip is his first return to New York City since last week when he was arraigned in Manhattan on separate felony charges related to records of hush-money payments that were made during his 2016 presidential campaign.
Trump further said on his Truth Social page Thursday that the "good thing" about the James case is that he'll "finally be able to show what a great, profitable, and valuable company I built, actually, some of the greatest real estate assets anywhere in the world."
But still, he claimed that James' efforts are in connection with the Biden White House, saying it is in "strict coordination and association with the lying, Country killing scum "working" there, and with "now-discredited District Attorney Alvin Bragg," the prosecutor over the Manhattan case.
Trump added that James' case "will prove to be FAKE, and even fraudulent. Her only hope is that she "shopped" a judge as bad as her!"
He also derided Engoron, while only referring to him as the judge in the case but not by name.
"The AG case should be tried in front of the Commercial Division, not in front of a highly partisan, Trump-hating judge who was sought out, or 'shopped,' by Peekaboo James," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Very unfair. New York State should be ashamed of this injustice!"
