Former President Donald Trump's motorcade was involved in a traffic accident on Interstate 95 in Florida Monday according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office confirmed to WPBF25 News that while Trump was unhurt, a motorcycle deputy sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The accident occurred near a highway rest stop near mile marker 106 on southbound 1-95 around 3:30 p.m.
Trump's motorcade was returning from an appearance at the federal courthouse regarding his classified documents case.
The spokesperson for the Martin County Sheriff's Office said the injured deputy is a woman. MCSO believes she was taken from the crash site to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Speaking to Newsmax, Martin County Chief Deputy John Budensiek confirmed that it was a single vehicle incident involving a female motorcycle officer, and no other vehicles were involved. While the Palm Beach County Sheriffs office was assigned to Trump's motorcade, other local officers were allocated for nearby road closures and a Martin County Sheriff's Captain witnessed the accident.
The motorcycle in question was ahead of Trump's vehicle at the time and appeared to lose control. The Martin County Captain who witnessed the event described the motorcycle as being tossed end over end. Although no objects were seen in the road, it was reported as being a very windy day, which could have led to the loss of control, according to Deputy Budensiek.
An ambulance that was traveling with Trump's motorcade, as well as Palm Beach County Sheriff's officer and Florida Highway patrol, were able to give immediate aide to the officer who had suffered "road rash" and was described as "semi-conscious."
The inured officer was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
