Final N.H. Poll: Trump Hits 60 Percent, Leads by 22

By    |   Tuesday, 23 January 2024 10:04 AM EST

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley sought to make it a "two-person race," but the final Suffolk University/Boston Globe/NBC-10 tracking poll before Tuesday's New Hampshire primary revealed that former President Donald Trump is widening his lead.

Trump pulled in an overwhelming majority 60% support, leading Haley by 22 points, after the departure of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis from the race. DeSantis endorsed Trump, along with former GOP presidential primary candidates Vivek Ramaswamy, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, and Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.

Ramaswamy, Burgum, and Scott joined Trump on stage at a Laconia, New Hampshire, rally Monday night. No former 2024 GOP presidential primary contender has endorsed Haley.

Full tracking poll results:

  1. Trump 59.6%
  2. Haley 37.8%
  3. Someone else 1.2%
  4. Undecided 0.8%
  5. Refused to answer 0.6%

Notably, those voting for Haley were split on whether the vote amounted to being for Haley (46%) or only against Trump (46%).

Trump has nearly unilateral enthusiasm in his candidacy, as 84% said their vote is "for Trump" compared to just 10% saying it was "against Haley."

"Now we're down to two people," Trump told his Laconia rally Monday night.

"One of them will be gone [Tuesday], the other will be gone in November," he added, referring to President Joe Biden. "Now is the time for the Republican Party to come together. We have to unify.

"That's why I am delighted to be joined today by a number of outstanding leaders, big leaguers, powerful leaders, great leaders, respected leaders. We are on the same team, 100% focused on Biden and beating him in November."

Suffolk University polled 500 likely Republican primary voters Jan. 21-22 for The Boston Globe and NBC-10. The margin of error is plus/minus 4.4 percentage points.
