The White House told CNN that President Donald Trump will not be doing a Super Bowl interview with NBC on Sunday.
"He is not doing a Super Bowl interview," a WH official told CNN.
NBC told CNN the same, but said the president has an open invitation should he change his mind during the network's broadcast of SB LII between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.
Trump did a Super Bowl interview last year with then Fox News host Bill O'Reilly.
However, NBC has been in the crosshairs of Trump for several stories that he has deemed "fake news."
Trump threatened to pull NBC's FCC license — which isn't a thing — over a nuke report, and he slammed its reporting in the fall that claimed Rex Tillerson had mulled resigning as secretary of state.
The network did not, however, make an appearance on Trump's inaugural "Fake News Awards."
Further, Trump has been at war with the NFL all season over player protests that involved kneeling during the national anthem.
George W. Bush started the tradition of doing a sitdown interview during the Super Bowl.
