President Donald Trump said in an interview aired Tuesday that although funding for Planned Parenthood remains in the continuing resolution to keep the government operating, it won't be there forever.

Fox News Channel's Eric Bolling sat down with Trump on Monday, and aired a second portion of the interview Tuesday on his new show "The Fox News Specialists."

"Some people on the conservative right are saying there is funding for Planned Parenthood in this continuing resolution that's going to fund the government through September," Bolling told Trump.

"Because it was a continuance," the president responded. "I said I wouldn't fund Planned Parenthood, and at the appropriate time, things will happen."

Trump promised in the campaign to stop federal funds to Planned Parenthood because some of the money goes to performing abortions. The group says abortion is a minor function and that federal funds are used only for breast cancer screenings and other such testing. Republicans counter that money is fungible and does help the group provide abortions.

Among opponents of the continuing resolution are Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, who told CNN on Monday, "We did a short-term spending bill for this time so when the Republicans control the government, we could actually do the things we campaigned on."
