Trump Naming Ross Worthington Head Speechwriter

By    |   Tuesday, 14 January 2025 09:54 PM EST

President-elect Donald Trump is expected to name Ross Worthington as his head speechwriter at the White House, three people with knowledge of the situation told Politico.

Politico reported this could mean Trump's second term will be heavy on policy. Worthington, along with Vince Haley, the incoming director of the domestic policy council, wrote speeches for Trump on the campaign trail that focused on policy.

The two also wrote scripts for policy videos Trump recorded on his campaign website, Politico reported.

Worthington and Haley worked under Stephen Miller, Trump's incoming deputy chief of staff for policy, during the first Trump administration, co-managing the White House speechwriting shop.

In 2012, Worthington was deputy communications director for Newt Gingrich's presidential campaign and wrote a book, "Breakout: Pioneers of the Future, Prison Guards of the Past, and the Epic Battle That Will Decide America's Fate" with the former House speaker.

Worthington also helped prep Trump for his June debate with President Joe Biden, which led to Biden dropping out of the race.
