Donald Trump: I Would Simplify Tax Code as President

By    |   Wednesday, 15 April 2015 06:02 PM EDT

Billionaire businessman Donald Trump has not officially announced whether he'll seek the Republican nomination for president in 2016, but he says that if he does become president he will simplify the tax code.

"Part of the reason the tax code is screwed up is because you have the lobbyists all lobbying for their clients," Trump said Wednesday on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto."

"Believe me, you would have a simplified tax code as one of the many things you could do in a Trump administration," he said.

Trump said Sen. Marco Rubio's plan to eliminate investment-related taxes is a good idea because it helps simplify things. But he said he would go even farther, with something like a flat tax.

Trump said he isn't holding his breath for anything to happen soon.

"The problem is the politicians are all talk, no action," he said. "They've been talking about this for 25 years, as far back as I can remember. They don't get it done."
